Nosler ballistic tip vs accubond vs partition
I'm debating on which ammo to try in my 28 Nosler. The Hornady is 162 gr and the Nosler is 160. The other option for starting out is the Nosler E-tip in 150 grain. I've read good and bad on Hornady brass for reloading, and Nosler brass isn't much cheaper than buying factory loads. Thoughts/comments welcomed.I load for a 7mm08 rifle, and have used 140 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip bullets for a long time, with excellent results. I see that the AccuBond has a similar plastic tip, but reads to have a different construction. I'm wondering now if I should switch to the AccuBond bullets for use on deer. Feb 24, 2013 · Nosler makes 2 Plastic Tipped bulllets the Ballistic Tip and the Accu-Bond;while the Ballistic Tip might be OK for deer it is much too frangible for elk,bear or moose. So, you should research bonded core bullets like the Accu-Bond,Federal Fusion,Hornady Inter-Bond and Swift A-Frame and Scirroco (sp) or similar bullets. Ballistic tips/Partitions with IMR 8208 XBR, and with the Ballistic Tips it is sub-moa at 100yds. - 0.74" to 0.9" for 5 shot groups. Partitions are not so good - best is about 2 moa. VirginaMar 01, 2014 · The 140 7mm Ballistic tip is rumored to be one of the best built. It supposedly holds together better than other Ballistic tips. The Accubonds act just like a Partition, they shed 40 to 60% on impact and then the rest drives through. The AccuBond is more streamlined (higher BC) than a Partition of the same weight, so it shoots a hair flatter, and the accuracy of the Nosler Ballistic Tip bullet on which it is based is legendary. So for me, picking between the AccuBond and the SST is a no-brainer considering your pronghorn-to-elk application. The accuracy is also all most the same with a slight advantage to the Ballistic Tip (But not enough to worry about). In some rifles the Accubond will actually out perform the Ballistic Tip in both areas. As far as I know, they are all boat tail, ballistic tip, bonded core bullets. I have only used Accubond before, worked well accuracy wise and on game. I think I'll stick with Speer Deep Curls for bonded though, half the price for the same accuracy and performance (apart from the slightly lower BC) The early Ballistic tips were the ones that exploded when pushed fast at close range. Nosler has improved them since the failures of the early days. The Accubonds perform better at all ranges IMO. That said, I have gone to mono bullets for all of my big game hunting. Barnes TTSX, Nosler E-tip and Hornady GMX.

I am going to use Varget loaded close to max. Which bullet would you pick for whitetail / hog hunting? Range is less than 300 yards.
